Cuttack: Health condition of one of the separated conjoined twins, Kalia, is critical, said SCB Medical College and Hospital Superintendent CBK Mohanty here today.

“Kalia is suffering from a chest infection. He has been put on ventilator support as his health condition is critical now,” said Mohanty.

On September 7, The twin brothers-Jaga and Kalia- had returned to Odisha after two years of undergoing treatment at AIIMS New Delhi and later admitted to SCB Hospital. A six-member team with specialists from neurosurgery, neurology, surgery and pediatrics department has been assigned to ensure proper treatment of the two at the hospital.

Worth mentioning, the craniopagus conjoined twins hailing from Milipada village in Kandhamal district were separated by a team of doctors after a 21-hour marathon surgery at AIIMS, New Delhi in October, 2017.
