Orphan boy rescued after 5 years of abduction in Odisha

Rourkela: After almost five years of being abducted, a minor boy of Gopabandhupalli Basti here was rescued by police from a house in Sector-1 in the Steel City.

The two arrested have been identified as Chiranjeev Chakraborty, an engineering student from Kolkata and Prabhat Panda, son of an employee of Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP), of Koel Nagar area here.

As per reports, the two youth had rented a Government quarter at B-49 in Sector-1 here and kept around 60 pet dogs of various breed in the house for selling them outside. Five years ago, the duo had allegedly kidnapped an orphan boy, aged around 12 years, from Gopabandhupalli slum and engaged him in the house to nurture the pets.

It is alleged that the two used to torture the boy minor boy physically and have even branded him with hot iron during his stay in the house.

Acting on a tip-off, local police conducted a raid on the house early this morning and nabbed the two youth. The cops also rescued the minor and seized the house.

However, police officials were not available to comment on the matter till last reports came in.
