PM announces Rs 1000 cr assistance for cyclone-hit Odisha

Bhubaneswar: Prime Minister Narendra Modi today announced an assistance of Rs 1,000 crore for cyclone-hit Odisha after taking stock of the situation.

The announcement came after the PM conducted an aerial survey of areas affected by cyclonic storm FANI in the state.

Odisha Governor Ganeshi Lal, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan were also present in the chopper.

Later, Modi along with Patnaik held a review meeting with concerned officials here.

Earlier in the day, the PM arrived at the Biju Patnaik International Airport (BPIA) here and was received by the Governor, the CM, Chief Secretary AP Padhi and Police DG RP Sharma among others.

The Ministry of Home Affairs had earlier on April 30 ordered advance release of financial assistance of Rs 340.875 crore for Odisha for undertaking preventive and relief measures in response to cyclonic storm FANI.
