Power transformer in Odisha capital goes up in flames

Bhubaneswar, Aug 4:

Fire broke out at a power transformer in Kharavel Nagar area in Odisha capital today disrupting the power supply in the area.

However, no casualty was reported due to the blaze.

The traffic along the Janpath in the city came to a halt as passersby witnessed the inferno amid drizzle due to low pressure over the Bay of Bengal.

It is believed that short-circuit could have caused the flames. The blasts accompanied with thick black smoke billowing from the transformer put the people in a tizzy.

“No one was injured in the incident. The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained,” a police officer said.
