Puri: After eviction of unauthorized structures adjacent to Meghanad Pacheri of Srimandir here, the district administration today resumed the demolition drive to remove constructions up to 75 metres from boundary wall of the centuries-old shrine.

Besides shops, the administration will demolish religious structures like Languli Mutt, Emara Mutt and Raghunandan library.

To avoid any unpleasant situation during the drive, 30 platoons of police force have been deployed in the area. Besides, 21 Magistrates are present on the spot to take stock.

Meanwhile, local residents and shop owners continued to oppose the eviction drive alleging that the district administration is carrying out the drive without ensuring their prior rehabilitation.

Earlier on August 19,  the administration evicted all structures adjacent to Meghnad Pacheri of Srimandir.
