Acting on a complaint, Twin City Commissionerate police today arrested the MD of Matrubhumi Home Pvt Ltd Arup Samantray for defrauding the customer to the tune of Rs 20 lakh here.

According to sources, Arup Samantaray had taken money from a person from Jajpur district to provide a land in the city. However, he failed to meet the promises made to them.

When the buyer filed a complaint against Samantaray, a team of officials from Laxmisagar police station arrested him.

“The realtor had taken Rs 20 lakh from one Harihar Pati in 2011 to provide 4 Gunths (25 Gunths = 1 acre) land on the outskirts of the capital city. However, he neither gave him the land nor returned him his money. Based on his complaint, the realtor was arrested today from Mandap Sahi,” a police official said.

On the other hand, three more complaints were registered today against Niranjan Rana, the MD of Maa Tarini Eastcon Pvt Ltd for defrauding Rs 25 lakh from customers to provide land.
