Rising minor girl rapes in Odisha: Cong to launch statewide stir tomorrow

Bhubaneswar: To protest the rising crimes against women and growing minor girl rape cases in the state, the Odisha Congress will resort to a statewide protest tomorrow.

Informing this at a presser here, Congress senior leader Narasingha Mishra said the party will stage protest in all district headquarters from 10 AM to 1 PM tomorrow. The party leaders will also submit memorandum to respective district Collectors in this regard.

Mishra said the CM has no moral rights to continue in his post in view of deteriorating the law and order the state.

Earlier in the day, pandemonium continued to prevail in the House for the second consecutive day today as BJP and Congress leaders staged protest demanding CM Naveen Patnaik’s resignation over rising minor girl rape cases and incidents of missing children.

Soon after the House assembled for Question Hour, BJP members rushed to the well of the House and demanded the CM’s resignation. Later, Congress legislators joined the protest. As the ruckus continued, Speaker Surjya Narayan Patro adjourned the House for six times till 6.08 PM.

Yesterday, Leader of Opposition Pradipta Kumar Naik had alleged that more than 6,000 girls and boys have gone missing from the state within a span of four years while only 40 per cent of them have been traced.
