Rourkela: In yet another shameful incident of minor girls being sexually harassed in Odisha, a 17-year-old girl was allegedly gang raped in a forest near Harpali Basti under Biramitrapur police limits in Sundergarh district.

While the incident had taken place on July 8, a complaint in this connection was lodged at at Biramitrapur PS by the girl’s family yesterday after a video of the gang rape went viral on social media.

As per sources two minor girls had gone to a forest near Harpali Basti with their two male friends. After sometime, one of the girls went back to her house, while the rest three were there in the forest. Meantime, seven youth came to the spot and took turns to rape the girl. The youth also captured a video of the gang rape and later uploaded it on social media.

After seeing the video, the family members of the survivor lodged a police complaint yesterday. The police have detained the two minor boys while the rest seven majors are absconding. A manhunt has been launched to nab the culprits, police said.
