Rourkela:  A day after the shameful incident of a minor girl being gang raped in a forest in Sundergarh district was reported, the Biramitrapur police arrested five youths from Rampur village in the district last night.

With this, total seven persons have so far been arrested in connection with the case. Earlier in the day, the police had arrested two minor boys for the gang rape.

However, two more youth are still absconding and manhunt is on to nab them, police said.

On Monday, family members of a 17-year-old girl lodged a written complaint at Biramitrapur PS alleging that the minor was gang raped in a forest near Harpali Basti in the district on July 8. The complaint was lodged after a video of the gang rape went viral on social media.

As per sources two minor girls had gone to a forest near Harpali Basti with their two male friends. After sometime, one of the girls went back to her house, while the rest three were three in the forest. Meantime, seven youth came to the spot and took turns to rape the girl. The youth also captured a video of the gang rape and later uploaded it on social media.
