Jeypore: In a tragic incident, a couple and their son were killed and two others were seriously injured after their car hit a tree near Tapajodi under Boipariguda police limits here this morning.

One of the deceased persons was identified as Chaitanya Mohanty.

The injured persons were rushed to Saheed Laxman Nayak Medical College and Hospital in critical condition. Later, they were taken to Vizag for treatment.

According to reports, the incident occurred at around 4.30 am when a car carrying five members of a family was travelling from Kakatpur to Malkangiri hit a tree near Tapajodi on NH 326.

The locals rescued the family members from the accident site and initially took them to Boipariguda Community Health Centre for treatment. Later, they were admitted to Saheed Laxman Nayak Medical College and Hospital where Chaitanya, his wife and son were declared dead.
