Sambalpur: A youth was arrested for allegedly raping and betraying a woman on the pretext of marriage here in the district.

The accused was identified as Raju Barei (28), a resident of Sahaspur village under Maneswar block in Sambalpur district.

According to reports, the youth was forcing the woman for physical relationship on the false promise of marriage. After one year, he went away betraying the woman.

The accused surrendered before the police on Friday after a case was lodged at the Mahila Police Station in Sambalpur. The police took him on a two-day remand for interrogation in the matter.
