2 youths drowned in Mandira dam in Odisha’s Sundargarh; 3 others rescued

Rourkela: Two youths met their watery grave in Mandira dam near Kansbahal in Sundargarh, today. However, three others who swept away in the water and later went missing have been rescued.

Identities of the two deceased have not been ascertained yet. All five youths are from Jharabeda locality in the district, a senior policeman expressed.

According to a source, five youths had gone to the dam for fishing. Due to reasons not known yet, they were swept away and went missing. Following a frantic search, three of them were rescued.

After striving for more than an hour, locals with the help of fire services personnel fished out the two bodies from water, a member of the search team said.

On being informed, police reached the spot and initiated a probe into the deaths.
