Cuttack: The Orissa High Court has summoned Kataka Collector Dattatraya Bhausaheb Shinde to appear in person over alleged non-compliance with its direction regarding the constitution of the Kataka city Traffic Management Committee.
The matter came up during the hearing of a public interest litigation concerning various civic issues in Kataka city.
The High Court directed the Collector to appear before it at 10.30 am on Saturday and explain why the committee was constituted without adhering to its earlier order.
The court had previously directed that an officer of the Additional District Magistrate (ADM) rank be included in the Traffic Management Committee. The committee was to be constituted by the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) to ensure effective traffic management in the city.
However, the court noted the committee formed by the district administration did not have an ADM-rank officer as directed.
Expressing strong displeasure over the alleged non-compliance, the High Court directed the Kataka Collector to appear personally and show cause.
