Adulterated ghee manufacturing unit busted in Odisha capital

Bhubaneswar: The Twin City Commissionerate police last night busted an adulterated ghee manufacturing unit at Bangali Sahi under Laxmisagar police limits of Odisha's capital city Bhubaneswar.

Police have seized two quintals of adulterated ghee from the spot which was meant to be sold in the market after being packaged.

As many as six persons-- Kamalakanta Mandal (20), Shankar Prasad Giri (28), Subrat Das (48), Shaktipada Das (65), Buddhadev Giri (25) and Manoranjan Patnaik (48)-- have been arrested in this connection.

According to police sources, the adulterated food was prepared by the accused using refine oil and borax powder. They used to sell these products in the name of reputed brands in Bhubaneswar market and other parts of the state.

A case has been registered into the incident at Laxmisagar police station under Sections 420, 273 and 24 of IPC.
