Puri: The Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) issued show cause notice to eleven servitors in connection with the much-talked-about Brahma Parivartan (soul transfer ritual) fiasco in Jagannath Temple during the 2015 Nabakalebar Yatra in Odisha’s Puri.

According to sources, the SJTA has decided to initiate action against the ‘erring’ temple servitors after a three-member subcommittee reviewed the final report submitted by the then SJTA Chief Suresh Chandra Mahapatra in September this year.

The eleven persons include 10 Daitapatis and one Biswakarma Maharana. Besides, notices were issued to two suspended temple servitors, sources added.

A temple official, requesting anonymity, said exemplary action would be taken against the unruly servitors under Section 21 (b) of the Temple Administration Act.

Earlier, Chief Administrator of SJTA Pradipta Mohapatra had told media that about 10-15 servitors are found guilty in the Brahma Parivartan of the Lords.

He, however, had said that the report of the Brahma Parivartan fiasco cannot be made public as it is a sensitive issue.

It may be recalled that on June 15, 2015, Daitapati servitors had delayed establishing the souls into the newly built wooden idols due to in-fighting among them, unleashing a hue and cry.
