Bhubaneswar: Tension reportedly erupted at Utkal University after a dispute over hostel-related issues escalated into a clash between students and outsiders on the campus on Wednesday evening.
According to preliminary information, two students -- Gangadhar Padhi of the Law Department and Laxman Munda, a second-year Library Science student from the tribal community -- were allegedly attacked in the incident.
The two students reportedly sustained injuries in the alleged group attack and are currently undergoing treatment at Capital Hospital in Bhubaneswar.
Meanwhile, Prakash Das and Badri Mohan Rout of the Law Department were also allegedly injured in the incident.
Following the incident, several students approached Saheed Nagar police station and lodged a complaint in connection with the alleged assault.
Injured students alleged hostel rooms are being sold to outsiders in exchange of money.
The exact circumstances that led to the clash are yet to be investigated and comment from authorities are awaited.
