Bhubaneswar: Senior Congress leader Bhakta Charan Das, who had unsuccessfully contested the 2024 Assembly polls from Narla seat in Kalahandi district, has moved the Orissa High Court seeking annulment of the election of winner Manorama Mohanty of BJD.

In his petition, the Congress leader has alleged that Mohanty had submitted false information regarding her educational qualification in her affidavit while filing nomination for the polls.

Das claimed that Mohanty had failed to clear the matriculation examination in three attempts. She had not furnished the matriculation certificate while contesting for the post of Panchayat Samiti member in the past, Das alleged.

According to the Congress leader, Mohanty, in her poll affidavit, falsely mentioned that she had passed the matriculation from Bihar.

Das, a former MP and Union Minister, claimed that he had collected all information regarding the educational qualification of Narla MLA Mohanty through RTI Act.
