Bhubaneswar: A 14-year-old girl was allegedly raped by a 19-year-old youth in Odisha’s Angul district. The incident reportedly took place under Bagedia police limits in Angul three days ago.

According to the complaint, the accused allegedly entered the girl’s house around 2 pm after finding her alone during the Durga Puja festival. He reportedly tied her hands and legs before sexually assaulting her.

The incident came to light after the girl’s family members returned home and learnt about it from her. Subsequently, the family approached the accused’s family over the incident. However, the accused’s family members reportedly abused and threatened them.

Following this, the victim’s family lodged a written complaint at the Bagedia police station two days ago. The cops have registered a case in connection with the incident under Case No. 349/26.

The police stated that the minor’s statement had not yet been recorded as she was unwell.
