Cuttack: Police on Tuesday dismissed as false a reported dacoity attempt at a house in Cuttack’s Choudwar area, following a complaint by a local resident.

ACP Arun Kumar Swain said the complaint was lodged over the phone by Dr. Sarat Singh, prompting an immediate response. Teams from Choudwar Police Station, along with the Cuttack Commissionerate Police, rushed to the spot and secured the area.

Senior officers, including the DCP, supervised a detailed search operation. Armed personnel were deployed, and the house was cordoned off under tight security as a precaution.

During the probe, police reviewed CCTV footage and detained one individual for questioning. However, it was later found that the person, identified as Pramod Kumar Sahu, had come to the house to collect money owed to him by a tenant.

After verification, police confirmed no dacoity attempt had taken place. The individual was released after questioning.
Police clarified the initial report was baseless.
