Sundargarh: On charges of sexually assaulting a five-year-old girl by luring her with a packet of biscuits, the police have arrested a 57-year-old man in Sundargarh district today.

According to reports, the man, identified as Satyaban Singh from Halama village under Kinjirakela police limits lured the minor girl child with biscuits and took her to his house. Singh then sexually assaulted the girl. When she cried for help, Singh let her go.

The incident occurred when the girl was alone at home, as her parents had gone to a nearby forest to collect forest produce. She later informed her mother about the ordeal after she returned.

The child’s mother initially approached village elders, but as no resolution was reached, she later filed a police complaint.

Police have since arrested Singh and forwarded him to court. Further investigation is underway.
