Bhubaneswar: The police have arrested Deputy Director of Fisheries Department in Odisha on charges of diverting government funds to his personal account.

Mangalabag police in Cuttack arrested Fisheries Department Deputy Director Basant Kumar Das for diverting around Rs 29 lakh funds sanctioned under the Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana to his personal account.

The police had launched a probe after receiving a complaint in this regard from the Additional Director of Fisheries Department.

The cops arrested Das after they came across the irregularities during the investigation.
