Bhubaneswar: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has moved the Khurda District and Sessions Court seeking permission for confiscation of properties of Odisha's arrested self-proclaimed godman Sarathi Baba alias Santosh Raul worth Rs 11.40 crores.

The ED had earlier this year in March attached the properties of Sarathi under Prevention of Money Laundering Act. The attached properties include Sarathi’s ashram at Barimula in Kendrapara district, two apartments in Bhubaneswar and bank deposits to the tune of Rs 2.40 crores.

Sarathi was also grilled by the ED officials in January this year and earlier in December last year.

Notably, Sarathi is currently cooling his heels at the Choudwar Circle Jail after being arrested on August 8, 2015 from his Barimula ashram in Kendrapara after he was embroiled in controversies concerning his stay with a young woman medico in a hotel in Hyderabad and several other cases.
