Sambalpur: A 15-year-old girl, who was allegedly gang-raped in Sasan area of Odisha's Sambalpur district, committed suicide by hanging herself last evening.

According to reports, the minor girl took the extreme step during the absence of her family members at the house. Her body was found hanging from the ceiling of the house.

On being informed, police rushed to the spot, seized the body and sent it to VIMSAR in Burla for post-mortem. The deceased’s mobile phone has been seized by the cops.

Notably, the girl was gang-raped near Sasan canal on May 3. Sambalpur police had arrested six persons, identified as Afzal, Tinu Sahu, Hadu Panchabiha, Ashirwad Behera, Abhilash Panchabiha and a 13-year-old juvenile, for their alleged involvement in the incident.
