Cuttack: Kendrapara MP and actor Anubhav Mohanty was allegedly abused by some miscreants at Nandi Sahi in Odisha's Cuttack city, late last night.

In a series of tweets, the actor-turned-politician has mentioned that a person namely Manjeet Das was creating ruckus in the locality. After he intervened, the accused hurled abuses at him, the MP alleged.

Mohanty has also accused Purighat police station IIC of misbehaving with him. On complaining about the incident, the IIC reached the spot but didn't take any action against the accused, he said.

"Manjeet Das and his associates thrashed me. Though police reached the spot, they didn't take any action against Manjeet. When Anubhav Mohanty intervened in the matter, Manjeet abused him using slangs," said a youth in a video posted by the parliamentarian on Twitter.

"My son was thrashed by Manjeet and his aides. However, police didn't arrest the accused though he was present at his house but claimed that he went to his uncle's place. Anubhav Mohanty urged the police to check whether Manjeet was drunk or not. However, police misbehaved with Anubhav," said the father of the victim.

On the other hand, Cuttack DCP Akhileshvar Singh said no formal complaint regarding misbehaviour by police has been lodged. If required, the matter will be probed, he said.
