Bhubaneswar: Two persons were killed after a car skidded off a bridge and plunged into Kusei river in Odisha’s Keonjhar district today.

The mishap took place near Rasol village under Harichandanpur block in Keonjhar in the afternoon.

The deceased have been identified as Pratap Das and Shivaswarup Rout of Dhenkanal town. Two others were also critically injured in the mishap, reports said.  

The accident took place while four persons from Dhenkanal were on their way to Ghatagaon in Keonjhar to visit Maa Tarini Temple.

The car skidded off the bridge and plunged into the river after the driver lost control over the vehicle, reports added.

On being informed, officials of the Daitari police reached the spot and rescued the four injured persons from the ill-fated vehicle and rushed them to a nearby hospital.

However, two of them were declared dead on arrival by the doctors. The two other injured persons were shifted to the Keonjhar District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) after their condition deteriorated.
