Bhubaneswar: A 24-year-old beautician was allegedly abducted and murdered in Odisha’s Sambalpur district.

The incident took place in Kuchinda area of Sambalpur. The deceased has been identified as Sarita Sa (24) of Kusumi Mahulaguda village under Mahulapali police limits. Sarita was working in a beauty parlour at Kuchinda town.  

The police launched a probe into the incident and arrested the prime accused. The victim’s body was recovered from a forest in Jamankira area of Sambalpur.

Accused Anil Pruseth of Kundaposi has confessed to the crime, said a police officer.

According to the cops, Sarita went missing during the celebration of Rath Yatra at Kuchinda on July 16. Her family members lodged a complaint in this regard with the police.

On the basis of the complaint, the cops launched a probe and detained Pruseth for interrogation.

During interrogation, Pruseth confessed that he had abducted Sarita in a car and killed her before dumping her body in Badarama forest under Jamankira police limits.

“The victim’s body has been recovered and sent for postmortem. The postmortem report will reveal the exact cause of her death. Our investigation is on to find out the motive behind the crime,” added the police officer.
