Bhubaneswar: A major twist has emerged in the death case of Ambika Swain, a girl student, in Odisha’s Berhampur city.

The police have arrested the deceased girl student’s boyfriend Rajesh Acharya on charges of killing her in a premeditated manner.

Earlier, there were reports that the girl student was killed in a road mishap in Berhampur a few days ago. The reports claimed that the mishap took place while she was travelling with her boyfriend on a bike in the Silk City. 

However, the police investigation has confirmed foul play in the death of the girl student. According to police, the victim met with the mishap after her boyfriend jumped off the bike in a planned manner.

“Preliminary investigation suggests that the accident took place after the girl’s boyfriend jumped off the bike deliberately. We have arrested the accused. Further investigation on the matter is underway,” said a police officer.
