Bhubaneswar: The authorities will treat the water from Gangua Nallah in Bhubaneswar to check pollution in Daya river.
The Odisha Cabinet, led by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, today approved the tender for construction of a sewage treatment plant (STP) for Gangua Nallah.
The water treatment plant will be constructed with an allocation of Rs 100.89 crore. A target has been set to complete the project by April 30, 2028.
“Gangua Nallah, a drainage channel, carries a large volume of untreated sewage from various parts of the city. Untreated water from Gangua Nallah causing pollution in Daya river. A waste water treatment plant will be constructed near the confluence point of Gangua Nallah and Daya river as part of the efforts to check water pollution,” said the state government.
The objective of this project is to intercept, divert and treat the water of Gangua Nallah to check pollution in Daya river, it added.
