Bhubaneswar: The murder case at Kolathia under Khandagiri police limits in Bhubaneswar has taken a major turn, with Police Commissioner S. Dev Datta Singh revealing that two school students were allegedly involved in the planned attack that claimed the lives of a college student and his father.
According to the Commissioner, the two accused are juveniles studying in Class X and Class XII. They have been detained and will be produced before the Juvenile Justice Board.
The deceased youth is Krushna Chandra Padhi alias Buddhi, a second-year B.Sc. student. His father, Himanshu Padhi (54), who was critically injured while trying to save his son, later succumbed to his injuries during treatment at AIIMS Bhubaneswar. Krushna's sister, Tapasi Padhi, remains under treatment after sustaining injuries in the attack.
The Commissioner said the murder was the fallout of a long-standing dispute linked to allegations that Krushna had been harassing a female classmate of the two accused. As part of the plan, the two juveniles arrived at Krushna's house wearing masks and carrying chilli powder and iron rods during the early hours of Monday.
Police said that although the two juveniles had no previous criminal record, the attack appeared to have been carefully planned.
The incident took place at the Padhi family's residence in Kolathia as the two masked assailants barged into the house and attacked Krushna with an iron rod. Himanshu and Tapasi were injured while attempting to rescue him.
