Bhubaneswar: Police from Balangir district have seized a large quantity of gold and silver articles during raids in Rayagada district in connection with a series of theft cases reported in different districts.
The raids were conducted in Kharajoda village under Kalyansinghpur police limits and Panasaguda village under Kashipur police limits. Preliminary information suggests that the seized gold and silver items may weigh more than five kg. However, police have not yet officially disclosed the exact weight or estimated value of the seized valuables.
Two residents of Kharajoda village were earlier detained and questioned in connection with the theft cases. Following their interrogation, police conducted searches at their houses.
Several other suspects allegedly involved in the theft cases are reportedly absconding. Police have launched searches to trace and apprehend them.
The raids are part of an investigation into multiple theft incidents reported in Balangir district over the past few months. Police teams are continuing their probe in Kharajoda and Panasaguda and are examining the seized valuables to establish their connection with the reported theft cases.
