Bhubaneswar: The first phase of the Census 2027 exercise—House Listing and Housing Census 2026—has been launched in Odisha through coordinated efforts between the Directorate of Census Operations (DCO) and the State’s Revenue and Disaster Management Department.
House-to-House data collection from April 16
Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Friday announced that trained enumerators and supervisors will conduct door-to-door data collection across all 30 districts of Odisha from April 16 to May 15, 2026.
Self-enumeration facility open till April 15
Before the field exercise, citizens can submit their details through the official self-enumeration portal of Census of India 2027 between April 1 and April 15, 2026. People are encouraged to voluntarily provide their information online to support the process.
CM appeals for active public cooperation
Through a message, Majhi appealed to residents to actively participate, stating that he has personally completed the self-enumeration process through Self-Enumeration (SE) and urged others to follow suit.
Data crucial for policy planning and development
The Chief Minister highlighted that accurate data collected during the census will play a vital role in planning and implementing welfare schemes and development initiatives at both state and national levels.
Government fully prepared for the Exercise
The Odisha government has completed all necessary preparations for the smooth conduct of the census. Citizens have been requested to cooperate with enumerators by providing accurate information when they visit households.
Call to make national exercise a success
Reiterating the importance of the nationwide programme, the Chief Minister urged people to extend full support and contribute to the successful completion of the census exercise.
