Bhubaneswar: In a special initiative to celebrate the spirit of Raksha Bandhan and reinforce its commitment to women's safety and mobility, the Comprehensive Region Urban Transport (CRUT) has announced fare-free travel for all women commuters across all AMA Bus services on 27 August 2026.

The initiative will be available across Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Puri, Rourkela, Sambalpur, Berhampur, and Kendujhar, and is expected to benefit nearly one lakh women commuters during the day.

Raksha Bandhan symbolises the bond of protection, care, and trust. On this occasion, CRUT extends this spirit beyond families by ensuring that every woman can travel safely, comfortably, and without financial burden. The initiative also complements the Government of Odisha's commitment to women's empowerment, including the ongoing Subhadra Scheme, by making public transport more accessible for women participating in various social, economic, and family activities.

AMA Bus has emerged as one of Odisha's most trusted public transport systems, offering safe, affordable, and dependable mobility through modern buses equipped with GPS-based tracking, CCTV surveillance, trained crew members, dedicated passenger support, and technology-enabled operations. The organisation continues to strengthen safety measures to ensure that women commuters can travel with confidence.

On this Raksha Bandhan, CRUT encourages citizens to choose public transport as the preferred mode of travel. By travelling in AMA Bus, women can enjoy a safe, reliable, and hassle-free journey while contributing to reduced traffic congestion, lower emissions, and a cleaner urban environment.

"Raksha Bandhan is a celebration of protection and care. Through this fare-free travel initiative, CRUT reaffirms its commitment to providing every woman with safe, reliable, and dignified mobility. We invite women across Odisha's operational cities to celebrate the festival by choosing AMA Bus and experiencing a secure, comfortable, and convenient journey."

CRUT appeals to all commuters to cooperate with bus staff, follow passenger etiquette, avail Zero-Tickets during their travel(mandatory) and extend support to fellow travellers to ensure a pleasant travel experience for everyone.
