Sundargarh: A tusker, estimated to be around seven years old, was found dead in an agricultural field at Dumerta village under Bandhamunda panchayat of Bisra block in Odisha’s Sundaragada district on Wednesday morning.

The elephant had two tusks and was found entangled in solar fencing wire in the field, raising suspicions that it died of electrocution. However, the exact cause of death has not yet been established.

After receiving information about the incident, a team from the Rourkela Forest Division reached the site and launched an investigation. Forest officials are examining the circumstances surrounding the elephant’s death to determine whether an electric shock caused its death.

The exact cause of death will be known after the forest department completes its investigation.
