Gajapati: Based on the allegations of negligence in the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, an Assistant Teacher has been placed under suspension in Gajapati district.

According to an order issued by the District Election Office, Ramanuj Das, who was serving as a Booth Level Officer (BLO) for Booth No. 110 under Siddhamadanga in Kashinagar block of Paralakhemundi Assembly constituency (No. 137), has been suspended from duty.

Das had been assigned responsibilities under the Special Intensive Revision drive, an being carried out to ensure the accuracy and integrity of the voter list. However, he was reportedly absent from duty without valid reason or prior permission and failed to perform the assigned duties diligently.

Citing his actions as gross negligence and dereliction of duty, Gajapati District Election Officer and Collector Akshay Sunil Agrawal issued the suspension order under Section 32(1) of the Representation of the People Act, 1950.

As per the order, during the suspension period, Das will not be allowed to leave his headquarters without prior permission of the competent authority and will be entitled to subsistence allowance as per rules.
