Gambling den busted in Odisha’s Rourkela; Rs 28 lakh cash, 400 gram gold ornaments seized

The Rourkela Police today busted a gambling den on Odisha-Jharkhand border and arrested two persons in this connection. The cops have seized Rs 28.39 lakh in cash and around 400 gram gold ornaments during the raid.

Bhubaneswar: The Rourkela Police today busted a gambling den on Odisha-Jharkhand border and arrested two persons in this connection.

A team of the Rourkela Police busted the gambling den during a raid at Luakera village under Sector 15 police limits in the Steel City. The arrested have been identified as Bahana Kansari (48) and Dillip Kansari (59) of Luakera.  

The cops have seized Rs 28.39 lakh in cash, around 400 gram gold ornaments, 600 gram silver ornaments, three four-wheelers, four two-wheelers, mobile phones, dice and a cash counting machine during the raid.

The gambling den was operating at Luakera for last many days. On a tip-off, a team of the Rourkela Police conducted the raid and busted the gambling den, reports said.

“During investigation, we found that the several cases are pending against the two accused in Bandamunda and Bisra police stations. We suspect the involvement of some more persons in the interstate gambling racket. Steps are being taken to identify them and initiate legal action in this regard,” said Rourkela Police in a statement.
