Bhubaneswar: Heavy rainfall and hailstorm are very likely to occur in some districts of Odisha in the next two days, predicted the IMD on Sunday.
As per the IMD prediction, some places in districts like Kandhamal, Gajapati, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar and Balasore are likely to witness hailstorm and heavy rainfall on June 1 (Monday).
The MeT Department has issued a Red warning for Kandhamal and Gajapati while an Orange alert is in place for Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar and Balasore.
Hailstorm and heavy rainfall may lash some places Gajapati, Ganjam, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj and Kandhamal on June 2 (Tuesday), said the IMD regional centre in its weather bulletin today.
The MeT Department has issued an Orange warning in this regard.
This apart, several districts in the state including Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, Khurda, Puri, Nayagarh Ganjam, Koraput, Malkangiri, Nabarangpur and Rayagada may witness light to moderate rain or thunderstorms till June 6.
“The maximum temperature or day temperature across the state is likely to rise by 2 to 3 Degree Celsius during the next four/five days,” said the IMD.
According to the MeT Department, many places across the state have witnessed light to moderate rain or thunderstorms during the past 24 hours. Some places in Keonjhar, Bhadrak, Bargarh and Mayurbhanj witnessed heavy rainfall during the period, it said.
“Conditions are favourable for further advance of southwest monsoon into some more parts of southwest & southeast Arabian Sea, Lakshadweep Islands, some parts of Kerala & Tamil Nadu, some more parts of southwest, westcentral, eastcentral & northeast Bay of Bengal, and remaining parts of southeast Bay of Bengal during next 3-4 days,” said the IMD.
