Bhubaneswar: A major fire broke out at the Market Building in Bhubaneswar on Tuesday morning, engulfing around 20 shops and damaging articles worth lakhs of rupees.

According to preliminary information, the fire started in a garment shop and quickly spread to several adjoining stores. Thick plumes of smoke were seen rising from the spot as flames continued to engulf the shops.

Firefighters rushed to the spot soon after receiving information about the incident and launched an operation to bring the blaze under control.

No casualties or injuries were reported in the fire mishap. It is suspected that an electrical short circuit may have triggered the fire, though the exact cause will be confirmed after a detailed investigation.
