Sundargrah: A man allegedly killed his father and critically injured his mother at Kadamdihi village under Koida police limits in Odisha's Sundargarh district late on Monday night.

According to reports, the accused, identified as the son of Painda Munda, initially attempted to kill his mother in a violent outburst. Hearing her cries and trying to intervene, Painda Munda rushed to protect his wife.

However, the situation escalated rapidly as the accused turned on his father in a fit of rage. He allegedly assaulted him with a wooden stick, beating him repeatedly until he died on the spot.

The mother, who also sustained serious injuries during the attack, suffered a fractured hand and heavy bleeding. She has been admitted to a nearby hospital and is undergoing treatment.

Police have been informed about the incident, and an investigation is underway to ascertain the exact cause behind the brutal act. Cops are also searching for the accused, who is currently absconding.
