Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government will soon introduce a new State Film Policy to boost the Odia cinema industry, popularly known as Ollywood.
This was revealed by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi today.
“The state government is consulting the stakeholders to introduce a new State Film Policy in Odisha. The government is committed to promote the Odia cinema industry and safeguard the interests of the artistes,” said the Chief Minister.
The Chief Minister also announced that the state government will take the necessary steps for the establishment of at least one or two cinema halls in every block of the state to promote the Odia film industry.
“The owners of the movie talkies are now giving priority to Hindi cinemas. But, the state government will introduce rules to prioritise Odia films in the cinema halls across the state. Any violation in this regard would invite stringent action,” he added.
