Bhubaneswar: Reaffirming its position as an investor-friendly destination, Odisha has secured a place among the top five states in the country in NITI Aayog’s Investment Friendliness Index (IFI) 2026.

According to the index released on July 17, 2026, Odisha achieved an overall score of 52.4, placing it among the “Top Performers” alongside Gujarat, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu and Goa. The report recognises these states as leaders in creating a conducive environment for investments.

The Investment Friendliness Index is the country’s first comprehensive, evidence-based framework for evaluating the investment ecosystem across all states and Union Territories. It assesses performance across eight key pillars—Infrastructure, Business Climate, Resources, Government Policy, Regulatory Ease, Institutional Environment, Financial Health, and Environmental Resilience. The index aims to benchmark states while promoting competitive and cooperative federalism.

Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi congratulated the people of the state, industry stakeholders, and departments associated with investment promotion. “Odisha’s recognition among the top five investment-friendly states is a matter of immense pride for every Odia. This achievement reflects the government’s commitment to transparent governance, industry-friendly policies, and efficient service delivery,” he said.

He further added the state would continue to focus on reforms, infrastructure development, and strengthening the investment ecosystem to emerge as a preferred destination for investors both nationally and globally.

Minister for Industries, Skill Development and Technical Education Sampad Chandra Swain said the recognition validates Odisha’s reform-driven approach to industrial growth. He emphasised the state remains committed to building a responsive, transparent, and globally competitive investment environment while accelerating industrial development, facilitating faster project execution, and nurturing skilled talent.

The minister also invited investors from across the globe to partner with Odisha and be part of its growth story.
