Bhubaneswar: Taking a cue from Delhi and Uttarakhand, the Odisha government on Thursday announced free bus travel for aspirants appearing for the NEET (UG) Re-exam 2026, scheduled to be held on June 21.
In a letter addressed to the CMD of OSRTC and the Transport Commissioner, the Commerce and Transport Department stated Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has approved the provision of free bus travel for candidates. Aspirants can avail of the facility by producing their valid NEET (UG) Re-exam admit cards.
The letter stated the decision aims to reduce the risk of heatstroke, support economically weaker students, and ensure equitable access to examination centres.
The NEET (UG) Re-exam will be conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) at 134 examination centres across Odisha.
The letter further directed the OSRTC CMD and the Transport Commissioner to implement the order at the earliest in coordination with district administrations, CRUT, and the Higher Education Department.
Earlier, the Delhi and Uttarakhand governments had also announced free travel in state-run buses for NEET (UG) Re-exam 2026 aspirants.
The NEET-UG 2026 examination, the gateway to MBBS courses, was initially held on May 3 but was later cancelled by the National Testing Agency following allegations of irregularities. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is currently probing the matter.
Meanwhile, Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on Tuesday said various ministries of the Central government are taking all necessary precautions to ensure that the re-examination is conducted smoothly and without irregularities. He added state governments and administrations are extending full cooperation.
