Odisha Vigilance Arrests Sambalpur Executive Engineer in Disproportionate Assets Case

Sambalpur: Odisha Vigilance on Wednesday arrested Padmalochan Nayak, Executive Engineer of CADA, Sambalpur Division, in connection with a disproportionate assets (DA) case after uncovering substantial movable and immovable properties allegedly beyond his known sources of income.

According to Vigilance officials, searches conducted at properties linked to Nayak revealed assets that he could not satisfactorily account for. The assets detected include three buildings, among them a multi-storeyed building measuring about 18,840 square feet at Kataka, 18 valuable plots, cash worth Rs 3.45 lakh, three four-wheelers, two JCB machines, a tractor and a trailer, besides other assets.

Following the searches and verification of the assets, Odisha Vigilance registered Sambalpur Vigilance Police Station Case No. 07/2026 against Nayak under the provisions of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 2018.

Officials said Nayak has been placed under arrest and is being forwarded to the court of the Special Judge, Vigilance, Sambalpur.

The Vigilance department stated that further investigation into the case is underway to ascertain the full extent of the assets and their sources.
