Bhubaneswar: The police have arrested the principal of a degree college in Odisha’s Jagatsinghpur district over allegations of inappropriate behaviour towards women faculty members and staff of the institute.
Raghunathpur police in Jagatsinghpur arrested Dayanidhi Routray, the principal of Swami Arupananda Degree College, and produced him in a local court after receiving a complaint in this regard from the victims.
Taking the incident seriously, Jagatsinghpur district administration has placed the accused college principal under suspension.
As per the complaint, the accused made obscene and derogatory remarks against the women employees of the college. He was also accused of harassing the women faculty members and staff of the institute.
The victims had lodged a complaint in this regard with the police on July 11. They also raised the issue with the Jagatsinghpur Sub-Collector seeking stern action against the accused principal.
