Bhubaneswar: An electrical technician was found hanging inside Indian Oil Corporation Limited’s (IOCL) refinery at Paradip town in Odisha’s Jagatsinghpur district today.

The deceased has been identified Ullash Das of Pattalipanka village in Kendrapara district.

Das was working as an electrical technician in a private agency, engaged at the IOCL Paradip unit.

He had left home yesterday for night shift duty at the oil refinery. However, Das was found hanging near his workplace today morning.

On being informed by some workmates, Das’ family members along with some villagers reached the oil refinery and staged a dharna in front of its main gate. The agitators blocked the main gate as well as another gate of the oil refinery, reports said. 

Das’ family members, meanwhile, alleged that he had been murdered. The agitating villagers as well as the workers of the oil refinery have sought Rs 50 lakh as compensation for the deceased’s family and a job for his wife.
