Bhubaneswar: Pramod Purohit of Panchara village under Kutra block in Odisha’s Sundargarh district has carved out a new identity for himself through mango cultivation. With hard work and determination, he has developed a thriving mango orchard named 'Trupti Orchard Farm House' on nearly three acres of land.
What began five years ago as a small farming initiative has now grown into a profitable agricultural enterprise. The orchard currently has around 300 mango trees, including popular varieties such as Bombay Pink, Neelam, Kesar, Langra, Dasheri and Amrapali. Due to the high market demand for these varieties, Purohit has been earning substantial profits from the venture.

The mangoes produced at the orchard are not only sold in local markets but are also transported by truck to Raigarh and Lucknow. The quality of the fruits and proper maintenance of the orchard have helped the produce gain popularity among consumers.
Significantly, Purohit achieved this success without any government assistance. Through his effort and investment, he now earns nearly Rs 2.5 lakh annually from fruit cultivation. His success story has become a source of inspiration for other farmers in the region.
