Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government has dismissed newly recruited Odisha Taxation and Accounts Service (OT&AS) officer Bhimsen Tudu from government service after his arrest in connection with a criminal case, the Chief Minister's Office (CMO) said on Saturday.
Acting on the directions of Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, the state government terminated Tudu's services with immediate effect. The CMO also announced that he would be permanently debarred from holding any government job in the future.
According to the CMO, Tudu had recently been selected for the OT&AS and was undergoing induction training at the Madhusudan Das Regional Academy of Financial Management (MDRAFM) in Bhubaneswar.

Officials said he had remained absent from the training programme since June 4, 2026, and also failed to appear for the academy's final examination.
During this period, Tudu was arrested by Barang Police in connection with a death case and was subsequently remanded to judicial custody.
The CMO stated that as Tudu remained in police custody for more than 48 hours in a criminal case, disciplinary action was initiated in accordance with the applicable service rules, leading to his dismissal from government service.
The state government said the action reflects its commitment to maintaining integrity and accountability in public service, particularly among newly appointed government officials.
The case in which Tudu was arrested is currently under investigation.
