Bhubaneswar: The authorities of Khallikote Unitary University in Odisha’s Ganjam district have asked the staff and students to avoid using personal vehicles inside the campus once a week as part of an initiative to make the varsity premises emission-free.
Vice Chancellor Prof. Asima Sahu has issued a directive in this regard. “The staff and students of Khallikote Unitary University are advised to avoid using personal vehicles on the campus once a week as part of an initiative to keep the varsity premises pollution-free and conserve fuel in the wake of the global energy crisis,” said the directive.
Henceforth, the varsity will observe ‘No Vehicle Day’ once a week. The staff members and students will not be allowed to use personal vehicles on the varsity premises on that day. However, there are allowed to use electric vehicles (EVs) and cycles on the campus, said the authorities on Saturday.
It is worth mentioning here that the authorities of Berhampur University had introduced ‘No Vehicle Day’ on their campus around three years ago.
