Bhubaneswar: A 32-year-old man was crushed to death by an elephant while he was trying to take photographs of the pachyderm in Odisha’s Deogarh district today.

The incident took place at Sanghapasi village of Chadheimera panchayat under Reamal forest range in Deogarh.

The deceased has been identified as Sushant Nayak of Jagannathpur village under Angul district.

As per reports, Nayak had come to meet some of his relatives at Sanghapasi. He along with some villagers were trying to take photographs of a wild elephant that strayed into the village in the evening.

The elephant attacked Nayak while the others managed to escape. He died on the spot, reports said.

On being informed, the officials of the Forest Department rushed to the spot and launched a probe into the incident.
