Bhubaneswar: A man allegedly killed a seven-year-old girl after raping her in Odisha’s Sundargarh district. The victim’s body was recovered from a forest today. 

The police have detained the accused and launched a probe into the incident. The minor girl went missing from her home on March 9, reports said.

The accused reportedly lured the minor girl to a forest near Rajgangpur and raped her.

He later killed the victim by smashing her head with a stone after she threatened to reveal the incident to her family members.

The accused allegedly hid the body under a large stone and fled the spot.

The incident came to light when the police interrogated the accused by suspecting his role in the disappearance of the minor girl.

The cops recovered the body from the forest only after the accused confessed to the crime, reports added.
