Odisha: Pramila Mallik appointed as Chairperson of Committee on Public Accounts for FY 2026-27

Bhubaneswar: Pramila Mallik, Chief Whip of the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) Legislature Party, has been appointed as the Chairperson of the Committee on Public Accounts (PAC) of the Odisha Legislative Assembly for the financial year 2026-27, according to a notification issued by the Assembly Secretariat.

The notification, issued on June 25, said 12 members have been elected to serve on the Committee on Public Accounts under Rule 135(1) of the Rules of Procedure and Conduct of Business in the Odisha Legislative Assembly. It further stated that Speaker Surama Padhy has appointed Pramila Mallik as the Chairperson of the committee under Rule 197(1). 

The 12-member committee comprises Pramila Mallik, Leader of the Congress Legislature Party, Rama Chandra Kadam, Dr Aruna Kumar Sahu, Ganeswar Behera, Sanatan Bijuli, Akash Dasnayak, Kalikesh Narayan Singh Deo, Ashok Mohanty, Babu Singh, Santosh Khatua, Amar Kumar Nayak and Arabinda Mohapatra.

The Public Accounts Committee is one of the key financial committees of the legislature. It scrutinises the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) reports and examines government expenditure to ensure that public funds are spent in accordance with legislative approval and established financial rules.
